Tax time resources for your investor clients

Tax time is here, and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has released resources to help property investors get their tax return right.

Tax time toolkit for investors

The 2024 Tax time toolkit for investors is a valuable resource for your clients intending to claim tax deductions for their rental property.

The Investors toolkit is a value-add product that can help your clients when they’re buying an investment property, with factsheets on:

  • top 10 tips to avoid common tax mistakes
  • interest expenses – what part of their loan they can claim back
  • borrowing expenses – stamp duty on the loan, title searches and broker fees
  • repairs, maintenance and capital expenditure explained, including Initial repairs.

Download and share the different factsheets in the Investors toolkit with your clients, according to their needs.

Rental property video series

Whether it’s their first investment property or not, there’s something in the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO’s) rental videos series that will help answer any and all of your clients’ tax questions, including:

  • claiming interest on their loan
  • understanding the difference between repairs and capital works and when to claim them
  • ensuring they consider all depreciating assets
  • and lots more.

Find them – and loads of other information – on the ATO website.

Remember, only registered tax agents can provide tax advice.
