About MFAA Mentoring

Mentoring is an essential step for new mortgage brokers, providing guidance, support, and practical industry knowledge from experienced professionals. A structured mentorship helps new brokers gain confidence, build a strong foundation, and develop their business skills to thrive in the industry.

Understanding customer engagement and loan writing

Navigating key lending scenarios and workflow processes

Submitting high-quality, compliant loan applications

Developing business growth strategies and building a professional network

Gaining a deeper understanding of the industry, key relationships, and responsibilities

Who can be a mentor?

A mentor should:

  • Be a current MFAA member.
  • Have at least four years’ experience in loan writing and have settled at least 50 residential mortgage applications.
  • Hold a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.
  • Have experience in mentoring and supporting new brokers.
  • Follow the MFAA Mentoring Standards.

Become a mentor

Get approval to mentor a broker in your business or aggregation group

If you would like to mentor a colleague without an endorsed program, follow these steps:

  1. Review the MFAA Mentoring Standards to understand the role and requirements.
  2. Submit your CV or resume to professionaldevelopment@mfaa.com.au.

Apply to become an MFAA Endorsed Mentor

If you want to offer a structured mentoring program to new to industry brokers, you can apply to become an MFAA Endorsed Mentor, which includes:

  • Listing on MFAA’s Find a Mentor directory
  • Recognition as a qualified mentor within the industry
  • Access to MFAA mentoring support materials

Find an Endorsed Mentor

If you're a new broker, you must find your own mentor to support your industry transition. Use our Find a Mentor directory to connect with an experienced MFAA Endorsed Mentor.
