Rose De Rossi’s unwavering dedication, leadership and service to the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia over 26 years has been recognised with the Perth broker receiving MFAA Life Membership.
Ms De Rossi was bestowed Life Membership at the MFAA National Excellence Awards at Crown Melbourne on Wednesday, 22 July. She is the fourth person in Western Australia to become a Life Member.
Honorary Memberships were also granted to Hank Spier and Wendy Robertson at the awards.
Joining the MFAA in 1999, Ms De Rossi has held key leadership roles at state and national levels, and is a current member of the Perth Forum Planning Group. Her MFAA membership includes 12 years of extensive and meritorious service, playing an instrumental role in member engagement, policy advocacy, and leadership during significant regulatory and industry change.
Ms De Rossi also contributed to major industry reviews, such as the ASIC Broker Remuneration Review; supported major MFAA campaigns, including Broker Behind You and Don’t Kill Competition; mentored brokers and set up successful member forum formats in WA which were replicated nationally.
MFAA CEO Anja Pannek said Rose exemplifies what it means to be a passionate, trustworthy and committed member of the association.
“Rose has poured a lot of energy into serving our members in WA and around the country as well as working for the betterment of the industry,” Ms Pannek said. “Her outstanding contributions and ongoing support are worthy of recognition.”
MFAA WA State Manager Natalie Price said Rose was the first WA member to be inducted as a Life Member in 16 years.
“I can’t think of a more worthy candidate for this honour,” Ms Price said. “Rose has supported and advocated for the MFAA and our industry tirelessly for most of her 26 years as a member.”
“During a time of immense pressure and scrutiny on our industry, Rose served seven years as an elected member of the MFAA Board culminating in her assuming the role of Board Chair during her last year of tenure.”
Ms De Rossi said being recognised as an MFAA Life Member was one of the greatest honours of her career.
“It’s not just a milestone – it’s a moment to pause, reflect, and feel deep gratitude for the journey this industry has taken me on,” Ms De Rossi said.
“After 40 years in finance, I can honestly say that my passion for helping people hasn’t faded – it’s only grown stronger. I’ve seen this industry evolve in so many ways, and every change has only reinforced the importance of what we do.
“When I started back in 1985, I never imagined the people I’d meet, the lives I’d impact, or how much this work would shape who I am. It’s been a privilege, and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it.”
Hank Spier and Wendy Robertson were granted MFAA Honorary Memberships, acknowledging their dedicated service.
Mr Spier has been the Chair of the MFAA Tribunal for over a decade. He also played a key role in the MFAA’s Code of Practice and his expertise in regulatory law (he was the inaugural CEO of the ACCC) has assisted the association’s self-regulatory framework.
Ms Robertson, who retired in June, was the State Manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory for 21 years, passionately supporting members, driving engagement, and helping to enhance the industry.
