MFAA celebrates National Excellence Awards 2019 and new life member

The Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) has celebrated the finest of the Australian finance broking industry and announced the induction of a new association life member at the MFAA National Excellence Awards 2019 at Crown Melbourne on Thursday.

The awards are the culmination of the MFAA’s National Roadshow and State Excellence Awards ceremonies, held across five capital cities over recent months, and are designed to reward excellence in customer service, professionalism, innovation and ethics.

MFAA CEO Mike Felton said this year the industry had added reason to celebrate having successfully emerged from a period of great scrutiny and uncertainty.

“After a challenging year for our industry, it is phenomenal to be able to come together and shine a light on the positive influence of our members and the terrific work they do in driving competition, choice and access to credit,” Mr Felton said.

“It was also an honour to witness the induction of highly respected industry leader, Kathy Cummings as a new life member of the MFAA. Since commencing her career in banking and finance over 30 years ago, Kathy’s professional standing, tenacity and experience has seen her contribute significantly to the MFAA and the advancement of our industry more broadly.

“Kathy has had a distinguished career that has strongly focussed on the advancement of the third-party channel. She also served as an active representative of the MFAA for nearly nine years including as a member of the Board between 2004 and 2009. Thank you, Kathy, for all you have done for the MFAA and our industry.”

Mr Felton said the awards finalists and recipients had outdone themselves this year by not only pulling together to weather a storm that posed risk to the industry, but by continuing to maintain their customer-focus, which directly contributed to the industry’s survival and achievement of record market share.

The 22 awards, audited by Hall Chadwick, are an excellent way to recognise the high levels of expertise and professionalism that members of the MFAA provide when servicing customers across the country. The awards are judged by experienced industry professionals based on selected criteria, and not on revenues alone, to ensure that brokers in all locations can be winners, including those in regional and rural Australia.

“The awards provided another reminder of the breadth and depth of talent of our industry stretching across Australia to serve people in all corners of the country,” Mr Felton said.

“The MFAA is incredibly proud to represent such outstanding professionals, who each year manage to excel and show just what our industry is about and what we stand for.”

The MFAA would like to express its thanks to its corporate partners, without whom this program would not have been possible, including: AFG, AMP, ANZ, Australian Broker, Bluestone, Commonwealth Bank, Connective, Macquarie Bank, MPA Magazine, NAB, NextGen.Net, Pepper Money, Prospa, QBE, Teachers Mutual Bank.
