Being an MFAA Excellence Award winner has been an opportunity for mortgage and finance broker Ryan Baddock to promote his business and build his brand.
Based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Ryan is Managing Director of RB Finance, a diversified brokerage across residential, agriculture, commercial and equipment finance, with a large number of self-employed clients.
He won the Commercial & Equipment Finance Broker Award at the 2022 Queensland and National MFAA Excellence Awards.
Ryan shared his win widely, posting on social media, informing his local business enterprise network including the local chamber of commerce, and letting his referral partners know about his achievement in their conversations.
Promoting his win in this way is something Ryan says has been good for business.
“It’s helped attract new clients, it helps clients to see that we are being recognised for the work we do,” said Ryan.
“It also helps with our referral network. They can be confident in who they’re referring their clients to, and they can share that information with their clients so they also feel comfortable,” said Ryan.
Acknowledging his team of six, including an offshore team member in the Philippines, Ryan said his award win was also an award for them.
“My staff can see that our business is performing, and they’re contributing to that, which is a source of pride for them,” he commented.
When it comes to advice for other brokers thinking about putting in a submission Ryan’s advice is that if you are looking for an opportunity to build enhance your brand, then put in a submission.
“Don’t leave it till the last minute! And make sure you think about the questions and that you’re answering what’s being asked,” he added.
