Michelle Towner of Perth’s Towner Finance won her first MFAA award when she was named the Young AMC of the Year, best broker under the age of 30, way back in 2006. So long ago, the MFAA was still the MIAA.
At the time the young broker was preparing for her wedding when, with the support of her partner, she overcame a few nerves to put her name forward.
Almost 15 years later, Michelle still recalls the euphoria she felt when she won her first “morgie” and encourages anyone considering entering the MFAA Excellence Awards to jump in and do it.
“It was such a great experience. I was organising my wedding at the time, and I remember flying to Sydney and winning this prestigious award.
“It was a terrific event, the award is beautiful, and the whole thing made me feel like a movie star winning a Logie. To this day I display my ‘morgie’ in our conference room, where it regularly catches the eye of my clients.”
Michelle was again in the winner’s circle at the 2020 MFAA State Excellence Awards WA, taking out the Customer Service Award - Individual and the Residential Finance Broker Award.
After the virtual event Michelle posted a live video to her Facebook page thanking her colleagues and clients. The video attracted over 2,000 organic views and created a buzz resulting in client connections.
“I had someone ring me up after he saw the video. We were able to help him out and just this week we received his surveyed feedback which read, “I Googled the best mortgage broker in WA and what I got was the best mortgage broker in Australia”.
“I think the MFAA Excellence Awards, hold the most weight with all awards industry wide as it’s the peak body. Winning an MFAA award can really make a difference for your business.”
