New experienced broker membership program

MFAA has made its new members' programme more flexible to accommodate industry growth. The programme now allows a professional with two or more years of industry experience and a Certificate IV to become an MFAA member. They can then commence loan writing immediately based on a commitment to obtain the diploma within 12 months. Each applicant will undergo an Experienced Broker Evaluation process to ensure the MFAA high standards supported.

What type of membership suits me best?

Membership of MFAA will help you no matter where you sit in the industry. Membership is tailored to

  1. Loan writers or brokers
  2. Mortgage managers
  3. Aggregators or Franchise groups
  4. Lenders/funders
  5. Mortgage Insurers
  6. Trustees or other support services
  7. Non loan writers who are employees of MFAA members
  8. Students

If you are a loan writer or broker who is new to the industry (less than 2 years loan writing experience in the last 5 years or Certificate IV qualification) you must join as an Individual member.

If you are an experienced loan writer (more than 2 years loan writing experience in the last 5 years ) you can join either as an Individual member or a Business member.

If you are in categories 2 – 6 above, you can join as a Business member.

Those who are employed by a MFAA member, but who are not loan writers, can join as an Individual Non Loan Writer.

Full time students not working as loan writers can also join as an Individual Student member.

Note that a new or renewed MFAA membership cannot be refunded as the membership is confirmation of accreditation for 1 year.

What is the difference between Individual and Business membership?

With Individual membership, the person who joins is the member. Business membership is in the name of the business (one business name only) and one person is appointed as the Nominated Representative of the business. This one person is considered to be a MFAA member. Business members are also able to promote their membership more prominently than Individual members.

Please note that Individual members must be citizens or residents of Australia.  Business members must have at least one principal, director or partner who is a permanent resident or holds citizenship of Australia, and the business must have physical presence in Australia.
