Cynthia is Managing Director of DLV Finance Solutions, a finance ​brokerage that has provided mortgage financing and leasing services to individuals and business for 15 years. She has had a diverse career in the banking and finance industry holding management positions in retail banking, lending and Treasury where she was a Money Market Dealer.

In addition to her ​Cha​irman duties, Cynthia is Chairman of the Remuneration and Selection Committee, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board and is the Liaison Director with the National Lenders Advisor​y Forum. She has a thorough understanding of corporate governance and the practice of directorship and is a former member of the National Brokers Committee, Chairman of the Victorian Brokers Forum (2 terms), Victorian State President (2 terms) and councillor (8 years).

Cynthia has been a MFAA member since 2000 and was admitted as a Fellow of the MFAA in 2012. She is a long-time advocate of the profession of finance broking and sees this as a continuing strategic focus for the MFAA.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Financial Services (Finance/Mortgage Broking Management). Fellow of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (FMFAA), Member Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).​

 Michael Cottier Deputy Chairman

Before becoming a non-executive director, Michael was CFO of the QSuper group. QSuper is one of Australia's largest superannuation funds, with over $50b in funds under management and more than 530,000 members.

Before QSuper, Michael was CFO of QIC Limited, one of Australia's largest wholesale investment management firms, with over $60b of funds under management and a global footprint.

Michael’s experience spans not just finance, with over 12 years' experience at senior executive level leading risk, compliance, investment operations, and other corporate centre functions. Overall, Michael has more than 20 years’ financial services industry experience, including over 10 years at Suncorp in senior finance and tax roles.

Michael is an experienced company director, having served on over 40 company boards, including QSuper, QIC, and Suncorp Group subsidiary entities as part of his previous senior executive responsibilities.

Michael is currently a Non-Executive Director of the MFAA, BT Super, Stadiums Queensland, Queensland Teachers' Union Health Fund Limited, and Metro Arts.

Qualifications: Michael is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and a former State Chairman of the Taxation Institute of Australia. Michael has a Bachelor of Business Accounting degree from QUT and a Masters in Taxation law from the University of Queensland.

Donna has over 20 years’ experience in the finance industry. Since becoming a mortgage broker in 2004 she has been involved in many MFAA events including WIMBN, particularly in the Regional areas where she lived. 

She recently moved to the Sydney area in July 2014, where she continued to be involved in the NSW/ACT State Forums which was a position she held up until she was appointed a board member. 

Qualifications: Grad Certificate in Corporate Management.

Donna is currently ​completing her Master of Business Administration.

Timothy Donahoo


MFAA Board Member since 2014


Tim entered the banking and finance world in 1985, joining the State Bank of NSW. He spent thirteen years there (State Bank of NSW/Colonial State Bank/CBA), including three years in Melbourne, in various roles encompassing retail banking, training, commercial recoveries, credit management and operations. A year in a credit management role with a minor mortgage broking firm gave him an introduction to this sector, before he joined Mortgage Choice in October 1999 and he is still there, having held the role of Head of Credit Services and Standards since 2004. He is based at Mortgage Choice's National Group Office in North Sydney.

A member of the MFAA since 2002, he was a member of the NSW Brokers' Committee (Broker Forum) 2004-2014 (Chair 2005-2007), a member of the NSW State Council 2005-2007 and sat on the National Brokers' Committee during 2006. He was elected to the MFAA Board by members in November 2014, is a member of the Board's Finance and Risk Management Committee and is the liaison director for the Forum of State Presidents and the Compliance Forum. 

Qualifications: Tim holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor's Degree in Law, an Associate Degree in Finance, Diploma and Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking, is a Certified Customer Service Manager and has been awarded Fellowships of the MFAA, the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, the Institute of Financial Services and the Customer Service Institute of Australia.​

Murray Cowan

With 30 years’ experience in Financial Services, Murray has sound business acumen & a keen understanding of the industry. For 16 years, he has been the Managing Director of Better Mortgage Management, a multi-award winning Australian Mortgage Manager. His leadership of BMM throughout the last 16 years (particularly the GFC and its aftermath) demonstrates his invaluable skills & knowledge. Previous roles, prior to establishing BMM include: Senior Area Manager at Citibank, Regional Sales Manager at Westpac and State Sales Manager at ING Mercantile Mutual Bank. 

Qualifications: Diploma of Financial Services & Cert 4 Mortgage lending, Mortgage Finance ’

Melissa Gielnik


MFAA Board Member since 2015


Melissa is a passionate award winning AFG Broker backed by 12 years' experience in the mortgage industry.

Melissa owns and operates a boutique size business Smart Lending, in the west of Melbourne.

Newly elected to the MFAA Board, Melissa had a short stint sitting in 2014 on the MFAA Victorian State Forum and has contributed to both MFAA and WINBIN forums and events over the past years as the MFAA National Excellence Awards Winner, 2014 Mortgage Credit Advisor of the Year.

Over her career Melissa has had many milestone and achievements both personally and in her business. Her most current professional achievements are being the holder of - 2015 Better Business Awards Editor's Choice Awards, 2012-2015  Australian Finance Group Loan Writer of the Year (Vic).

Qualifications: Bachelor of Business in Applied Economics, Diploma of Finance Services (Mortgage Broking)​​.​

Scott Bolton​​​​​

MFAA Board Member since 2016



Scott has over 11 years’ experience in the finance industry. Since becoming a mortgage broker in 2006 he has been involved in a range of local networking events to promote his business presence.

Scott has lived in Canberra ACT since 1991 with his wife and his two teenage sons where he started a small business under a franchise arrangement. He then travelled for several years, broadening his expertise with an American corporation, returning to Canberra as a Wizard franchisee in 2006, which was then converted to Aussie in 2009. 

Over time being in being a small business he has gained experience in HR policies, compliance, Govt. interaction, stock control, handling debtors and exceeding customers’ expectations.     

Qualifications: Post Grad in Master of Business Administration, Diploma and Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking and is a Justice of the Peace.
